Job prospects
The wood industry in Poland, including the furniture industry, is one of the fastest growing sectors of the economy, recognized as a priority:
over 65 thousand entities,
over 250,000 employees,
over $ 2.0 billion of foreign direct investment every year,
implementation of the most modern solutions (nanomaterials, CAD design, numerical control, innovative technologies, etc.).
As a result, Poland is currently the third largest exporter of furniture in Europe in terms of value. Currently, 6 out of 10 wood industry plants in Poland report a shortage of qualified workforce, and in the coming years this shortage will become even worse. Our students often start working in industry as early as in their third year or are associated with a company through a system of internships and scholarships. Wood companies visit our department in search of employees, and the number of job offers shows how much wood technologists and furniture makers are needed. Currently, we cooperate in the field of internships with such companies as: Fabryki Mebli Forte SA, Bydgoskie Fabryki Mebli, Nowy Styl Group, Steico, Porta, IKEA INDUSTRY Orla, Mardom Pro, Mebloform, GTV, FESTOOL, Leitz, Pfleiderer, Meble Wójcik, Teknika, HOMAG Poland, . According to research among our graduates, most of them started working in the profession (of course in positions adequate to their education), often abroad: in Germany, the Czech Republic, France, Sweden, Norway, Great Britain, the USA and Brazil.
