Scientific Circles

  • Scientific Circle of Wood Technologists

The Scientific Circle of Wood Technologists is an association of young and ambitious people who want to learn and develop issues related to the broadly understood wood industry. We operate at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, at the Faculty of Wood Technology (one of two such units in Poland). By developing our interests, we learn about modern techniques of designing, manufacturing and protecting wood. We also do not forget about the legacy of craftsmen from previous eras. We try to explore their artistry and archive their achievements. The most pleasant, however, is the fact that we can work with such a graceful and beautiful material as wood.

  • Wood Technology Photographers Circle

The Students’ Circle of Wood Technology Photographers at the Faculty of Wood Technology of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences was established 3. June 2011 (previously it was a section at the Wood Technologists Science Club).

Students of the Wood Technology Photographers’ Club deepen their interests mainly in the field of digital studio photography, including macroscopic and microscopic photography (e.g. photos of the structure of wood and wood materials, the effects of surface refinement of these materials, the impact of lighting on visual effects, interior design), as well as image analysis and processing techniques (eg practical application of computer programs to “clean” old photos and documents). As part of popularizing the scientific achievements of the Society, competitions and exhibitions are organized, as well as posters, papers and a model of wooden objects at the Scientific Circles reviews.

Lemko Chyża from Bartne from the beginning of the 20th century. it is a regional cultural heritage and is entered in the register of monuments. • Scientific Circle of CNC Machine Tools

The CNC Machine Tool Group focuses on two directions of activity: research and practical-design.

The research field was created for younger adepts of wood industry who would like to develop scientifically (engineering thesis, master’s thesis) and gain knowledge in such a dynamically developing and undoubtedly future-oriented field of technology, programming, use and diagnostics of CNC machine tools.

On the other hand, the practical-design direction was intended to create the possibility of real work with real CNC machine tools (which our department has at its disposal), i.e. a simulation: from an idea, design to a tangible, full-value product.

We move with the times and we are interested in new technologies. Our wheel has a Prusa Mendel 3D printer at its disposal, which prints with a wood-polymer composite.

We are also working on our own small training CNC machine, which we build ourselves. DIY or “do it yourself” is a great way to expand your theoretical knowledge with a piece of practice and have fun at the same time.

  • Conditions for obtaining a discharge

Experience shows that students do not always remember about all formal elements related to the discharge they receive. Therefore, we would like to remind you of a few important things that should be taken care of in order to avoid stressful situations at the end:

    1. The discharge may be obtained by students who pass all subjects and exams, including library training and OHS training.

    2. There is no re-sit session after the last semester.
The finished thesis should be submitted to:
      – January 31 (full-time first-cycle studies, part-time second-cycle studies)
      – June 30 (full-time second-cycle studies, part-time first-cycle studies)

    3. Another element is fully settled payments (no overdue fees to WULS-SGGW, e.g. for repeating a subject, semester, for issuing a duplicate ID card, etc.).

    4. Caution : Students who did not receive the discharge (within the above-mentioned deadlines) must submit an application to the Vice-Dean asking for consent to postpone the date of obtaining discharge.

  • Submission of the thesis

The diploma thesis, approved by the Supervisor, should be submitted to the Dean’s Office by June 30 for studies ending with the summer semester or by January 31 for studies ending with the winter semester. Diploma theses – master’s and engineering theses are checked in the anti-plagiarism system (JSA) by the Promoter. The JSA regulations are posted on the WTD website.
